A San Francisco investment banker with quite a history of DUIs was out driving on January 11th 2005 when he hit, and killed 55-year-old Gurdeep Kaur. Lee Harbert, the driver fled the scene.
The story that Mr Herbert stuck to was that he hit a deer. Releasing him from the need to stop and assist with whatever he had just ran over. Originally police reports were for a burgandy Jaguar, and Lee’s was black. No way it could have been him.
Police later searched his house and computer. They searched his recent queries in Google and found these recent search terms: “auto parts, auto dealers out-of-state; auto glass, Las Vegas; auto glass reporting requirements to law enforcement, auto theft.” The one that did him in, was this gem, “hit-and-run” which he followed to a website that had the news story on the hit-and-run he committed.
Convicted, and later sentenced to three years in prison. Harbert attempted to appeal just last week, but was denied.

Tracey Fox, a British woman living in Thornley England used herself as a barricade against the door to her laundry room, with a repairman inside.
This all came to be after Tracey’s washing machine had broken 10 months after purchasing it. Fox placed five phone calls in December to have a repairman come out and fix it. Unfortunately no one would be able to come out until after Christmas.
Finally on January 13th a man finally showed up to fix the still broken washer. “He said that I’d have to pay for any repairs, even though the machine was still under warranty, and I might as well get a new one because the amount it would cost to fix it would be the same as buying another one,” Fox said.
Tracey then braced herself against the washroom door with the repairman trapped inside, not letting him leave until the appliance had been repaired. The repairman called the police, and then Fox said she permitted him to leave
Tracey Fox isn’t facing any criminal charges for her actions. Due to the incident Currys has offered to replace her washing machine.
“I’m not proud of my actions, but I felt there was no other option,” she said. “It sounds stupid thinking about it now, but it was the final straw.”
