A Texas Department of Public Safety statement released Tuesday says a state trooper found the marijuana filled school bus near Laredo, on the side of U.S. 59 in Webb County, over the weekend. According to the statement, 560 marijuana bundles totaling more than 9,210 pounds were hidden under a cardboard false floor and in a secret ceiling compartment.
The DPS estimates the marijuana is worth $3.9 million retail and says the seizure is the second largest it’s made during routine traffic enforcement since 1997.
The agency is asking for public help in identifying suspects. The DPS wants Anyone with information to call 956-728-2201.

A man in Denton Texas found a package on his porch delivered by UPS
on Monday. He opened it up and was surprised to find 30 pounds of
compressed marijuana.
“He was expecting tools that he had ordered from
Sears,” said police spokesman Officer Ryan Grelle.
The package of
marijuana that was there instead has a street value of about $10,500.
The package was delivered at about 8 p.m. although the resident was
not home when the package was delivered, he opened it when he returned
home. Shortly after it was opened, the package was on its way to the
police department.
The package
apparently originated in Pharr, Texas and wasn’t addressed to the man
in Denton. The address on the package was non existent, but an
employee for UPS rerouted to to a similar address in Denton, Officer
Grelle said.
The case is
still under investigation.
